EYFS visit from the Fire Service
Owls and Robins had a visit from 5 Fire Officers.
Robins went outside to look at the fire engine. We learnt they had 4 ladders, some cutters, a spreader and lots of hose. We saw how the hoses were attached and some children got to hold the hoses. We saw the lights and talked about how it warns people to move out of the way. All the children had the chance to sit in the back of the fire engine.
Owls class listened to the firefighters talk about their special clothing. One of the fire fighters put on the clothing so that the children could see what it looked like. They told us about all the different jobs they do to help people too; rescuing from fires, car accidents and saving animals.
At the end both classes got to hear the sirens.
Unfortunately the fire fighters were called away, so Owls and Robins didn't get chance to swap activities, but we are hoping that they might be able to return another day to continue the learning.
Remember to talk to your child about the excitement of the day.
