Middleton Primary School offers a breakfast club each school day from 8.30pm. This gives parents the opportunity to bring their children to school ten minutes earlier than the gates open in the morning. The entrance to breakfast club is via the pedestrian entrance to the staff car park and into the KS2 hall.
The children are looked after by trained school staff who provide a nutritious, healthy, balanced breakfast. Year 6 helpers also assist with the registration and money collection. Toast is offered daily, with occasional crumpets or pancakes. Spreadable butter and jam are also offered in addition to one type of protein, such as ham, cheese, egg and yoghurt. Milk or water is available to drink.
The cost of the breakfast is subsidised by school and is only 20p per day or £1 per week. From 8.40am, children in KS2 can go onto the playground to play before school starts at 8.50am.
Children in KS1 and EYFS are looked after in the hall, where there are activities such as Lego and books. They are accompanied to their classrooms by breakfast club staff at 8.50am.
